On the afternoon of April 25, 2025, the "Funto Dialogue: 426 World IP Day Special" event was successfully held at the Foshan Central Legal Services District. Guided by the Judicial Bureau of Chancheng District and the Chancheng District Lawyers Working Committee, and hosted by Guangdong Funto Law Firm, the event was co-organized by the Foshan Legal Managers Alliance, Foshan Foreign-Related Public Legal Service Center, Foshan International Financial Arbitration Court, Shunde Intellectual Property Protection Association, Foshan Nanhai Trademark Association, and WeLegal Alliance. It attracted over 50 legal professionals and corporate in-house counsel.
The Foshan Central Legal Services District, as the venue, is a key legal services hub developed by Chancheng District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. It aims to integrate legal resources, provide one-stop legal solutions, and promote regional legal development and economic growth.
Focused on the theme "Hot Issues in the Recognition and Protection of Well-Known Trademarks," the event began with orderly registration and a tour of the facility's specialized areas, including the legal service hall, the Greater Bay Area Center of the CCPIT Mediation Center, the Foshan Foreign-Related Public Legal Service Center, and the Foshan International Financial Arbitration Court. This allowed attendees to gain an in-depth understanding of the integrated operational model and services of the Foshan Central Legal Services District.
The event commenced with an opening speech by Chen Xiaochen, Vice Chairman of the Foshan Chancheng District CPPCC and Director of the District Judicial Bureau, who emphasized the importance of intellectual property protection for enterprise development and regional economic development, setting a professional tone for the exchange.
Following an icebreaker game that energized the atmosphere, representatives from companies such as New Pearl Group, Bear Electric Appliance, and Arrow engaged in a roundtable discussion on the challenges of protecting well-known trademarks, sharing practical experiences and obstacles encountered. Pan Yanping, Head of the Foreign-Related Legal Task Force of the Foshan Judicial Bureau, shared insights on the judicial application of trademark surveys in cases involving trademark similarity and confusion, both domestically and internationally. She explained how notarized trademark surveys can help companies assess potential infringement or confusion, thereby obtaining stronger evidence support in trademark infringement cases and increasing the likelihood of a favorable outcome, which sparked lively discussion among participants.
Subsequently, Dr. Ou Xiuping, a PhD in intellectual property law, shared key judicial points for protecting well-known trademarks, providing an in-depth analysis of the current legal framework and practical difficulties in their recognition and protection. He Jun, Founding Partner of Funto Law Firm, offered a detailed interpretation of typical well-known trademark protection cases, combining practical examples to deliver profound knowledge sharing.
The event concluded with a group photo and interactive networking, ending successfully in an atmosphere rich with intellectual exchange.
